Hakes Brothers supports dedicated healthcare team at Mesilla Valley Hospice

Homebuilder donates meals to show appreciation for employees who provide end-of-life care at local nonprofit

Las Cruces, NMHakes Brothers, a southwest regional homebuilder based in Las Cruces, found a special way to give back to Mesilla Valley Hospice by hosting an appreciation luncheon for their staff and employees.  The endeavor was uniquely designed to support unsung heroes who make a difference in the local community.

Several members of the Hakes Brothers team participated in the event that took place on Friday, July 24th. Following health and safety guidelines, company volunteers joined forces with a local food truck, Nops on Wheels, to provide food for the hospice healthcare team.

“We are so grateful to Hakes Brothers for going out of their way to recognize our employees and make them feel appreciated,” said Nina Salmon, CEO of Mesilla Valley Hospice. “The food truck was a fun way to show our employees that the work they do for Dona Ana county residents is important. It’s the support of individuals and organizations such as Hakes Brothers that makes the work we do even more special and keeps us pushing forward during challenging times such as these.”

“We wanted to show our immense appreciation for the selfless job the employees at Mesilla Valley Hospice show up to do each day,” said Jessica Tolman, Sales and Marketing Director of Hakes Brothers, Rio Grande. “While we understand that the challenges they face are not easy, we want to demonstrate that they have businesses behind them that value their contribution to New Mexico, and more specifically, to Las Cruces.”

Mesilla Valley Hospice has the only free-standing hospice facility in the state of New Mexico and has been the leader in hospice care in the Las Cruces community for more than 37 years, providing exceptional end-of-life care to those with a limited life expectancy.  “As the only not-for-profit hospice in Dona Ana county, our goal is to provide care to anyone in our community who needs end-of-life care regardless of their ability to pay,” said Salmon. “This is made possible by our caring and compassionate staff and volunteers, and by many individuals and organizations throughout our community who support our work.”
