Welcome to Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho is the New Retirement Destination for 2023

Rio Rancho offers convenient and affordable access to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and a variety of landscapes perfect for hiking, entertaining, and all your retirement adventures.

For many people, Santa Fe tops their destination list for retirement.  After all, with a plethora of beautiful history, art galleries, good weather, and great food, this is a city that knows how to live well.  Due to recent inflation, Santa Fe has become increasingly less affordable to those who want to relocate to this beautiful destination.  With the median home price in January averaging $600,000, this is a city that can bust budgets for many looking to relocate.   Offering modern home designs starting in the high $200,000s, Rio Rancho addresses this housing opportunity with a community that is fun, exciting, and affordable.

Rio Rancho is a beautiful bedroom city located just 45 minutes from Santa Fe, boasting many of the same amazing features that define Santa Fe. With year-round temperatures that average 5 degrees warmer than Santa Fe, the city enjoys a mild, high desert climate, perfect for sporting events, scenic tours, and outdoor adventures. Located in Sandoval County, New Mexico the city offers convenient and affordable access to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and a variety of landscapes perfect for hiking, entertaining, and all your retirement adventures.

Location is Everything

With the Rail Runner Express, you can take advantage of a comfortable, 30-minute train ride directly from Rio Rancho to Downtown Santa Fe, where you’ll enjoy everything the city has to offer. And, in Rio Rancho, you are also only a 25-minute drive to Old Town Albuquerque, known for its museums, restaurants, and rich Southwest culture.  Dine at world-renowned restaurants such as the famed Antiquity, featuring a variety of high-end steak and seafood selections. We recommend their King George V, a filet mignon on a bed of artichokes.  Albuquerque also hosts world-class artists at the resorts such as Isleta Resort and Casino and the Sandia Resort and Casino, where acts in 2022 included Brad Paisley and Imagine Dragons.

Great Eats

Rio Rancho has a wonderful variety of restaurants, including our area’s beloved M’Tuccis Moderno.  This fabulous Italian restaurant features a fabulous wine and cocktail menu.  Come for happy hour and the charcuterie and stay for the beautiful handcrafted pizzas or their artichoke pesto ravioli.  One thing Rio Rancho is known for is our unique, established craft microbrewery industry. With over 10 local gifted brewers churning out amazing beers, distinct flavors, and barrel-aged brilliance, New Mexico residents and visitors have plenty of brewing territory to explore.  One of our personal favorites is Tap & Taco where you can enjoy our personal favorite, a delicious carne asada taco for just $2 and the one of a kind 7KIPA beer.

So Much to Do

Rio Rancho doesn’t just stop once your stomach is full.  We have plenty of commerce, both locally owned, as well as popular national chains.  In addition to that, we have hiking trails that include the Rio Rancho Bosque Preserve, Petroglyph National Monument, and the Sandia Mountains.  For a more relaxing way to spend the day, you can also enjoy the Corrales Wine Loop, a group of three local vineyards located in Rio Rancho and neighboring Corrales New Mexico.
